The dates must go on

The dates must go on…

Well 2020 has been very unexpected! Who would have thought as we draw closer to the end of the year that we would find ourselves in the middle of a pandemic? Everyone has found lockdown to be a different experience and we all know how it can feel to be lonely on a weekend under normal circumstances, but with weeks and months of lockdown under our belt and the threat of further lockdown over the coming months, you’ll be reassured to know that dating doesn’t have to stop.

Here are some fantastic ideas of ways to date during a pandemic:

Getting some fresh air

A walk is a great date under normal circumstances and this still stands during the current circumstances. Whether it is a walk along the bank of the Thames, a walk in the countryside or even at the coast, it provides an ideal opportunity to talk and get to know each other better away from the distractions of modern life.

Virtual dating

From the safety of your own home you can attend virtual dating events such as speed dating in a virtual bar via dateinadash or even a game of virtual Cards Against Humanity or Drunk Jenga Dating. If you haven’t tried virtual speed dating before, then give it a whirl!

Telephone chats

Look forward to a long telephone call with your date for a perfect way to get to know each other better. Even if you have been together for a while it can be a great way to reconnect with each other providing you set the time aside. Share little details from your day with each other as a way to feel closer to each other.

The dates must go on

Skate and date

Ice skating is a wonderful seasonal date. It can provide a lot of laughter and an opportunity to hold hands with the one you love…

Breakfast is best

Get up early and meet your date for breakfast to set your day up right. There are no rules that say that meeting your date for food should only involve dinner. Meeting up first thing for a steaming hot coffee and a companionable read of the Sunday papers could become a favourite.

Zoom quiz night anyone?

This could be a good way to test each other’s general knowledge and see how much of a good sport your date is! A fun first date?

Adventurous activities

There are plenty of opportunities to date in a more adventurous environment such as rock climbing, abseiling and tree top pathways. A quick look on the internet should reveal what is in your area for something out of the ordinary.

Warm up

With the weather having turned for the colder and the memories of summer drifting away don’t forget the joy of sharing a couple of large hot chocolates with all the trimmings!
