Chatham’s Historic Dockyard Marks 40th Anniversary with Exclusive Discounts for Local Residents

Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust is thrilled to unveil a unique offer for its community members in honor of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the acclaimed charity responsible for preserving The Historic Dockyard Chatham. Throughout April 1st to 30th, 2024, residents residing in Medway postcodes will delight in a substantial 40% discount on walk-up admission tickets.

On March 30, 1984, the gates of Chatham Dockyard were shut, signaling the end of 400 years of the Royal Navy’s presence in Chatham and its vicinity. Remarkably, on that very day, Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust emerged, dedicated to preserving 80 acres of this historically significant site and offering a ray of hope to the community. This week, as the Trust commemorates its anniversary, it extends a special invitation to the local community to explore the historic site at a discounted rate.

The Historic Dockyard Chatham has been an integral part of the Medway community for over 400 years. Local residents who take up the offer will have the opportunity to discover four centuries of maritime heritage by exploring the historic warships, experiencing the famous ropewalk, engaging with the numerous galleries, and immersing themselves in the stories of the Dockyard.

Included in the offer is the brand-new RNLI 200: The Exhibition, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. This must-visit exhibition allows visitors to discover the heroic tales of the men and women who have risked their lives to save others, in times of calm and amidst the most treacherous storms.

Visitors will also be able to embark on an exciting rescue mission with RNLI’s Stormy Stan and the Storm Force Crew. This exciting quest, running from 29 March to 6 May 2024, gives families the opportunity to navigate through the twists and turns of the Dockyard, rounding up the wayward lifebuoys and restoring order. On special dates children will also be able to meet Stormy Stan and pose for photos (see website for dates and information).

Residents with postcodes ME1, ME2, ME3, ME4, ME5, ME7, ME8, and ME9 7 are eligible for this exclusive offer. To claim the discount, visitors must present photographic identification with proof of address at The Historic Dockyard Chatham on the day of their visit. Each household is limited to a maximum of six discounted tickets per day, redeemable only at the ticketing office.
