Panto Tonbridge

Christmas Panto Tonbridge – Robin Hood and his Socially Distanced Merry Men!

Wondering about Christmas Panto Tonbridge and whether it will be taking place this year? The show must go on!

Robin Hood and his Socially Distanced Merry Men will be coming to EM Forster Theatre presented by Wicked Productions and taking place from Friday 18th December to Sunday 3rd January

Wicked Productions are set to leave audiences in a QUIVER as they return this Christmas to bring some much-needed fun and MERRY MEN-T with this year’s alternative production of Robin Hood and his Socially Distanced Merry Men.

Following such a difficult and challenging year, the team at the EM Forster Theatre and Wicked Productions were determined to bring some panto magic to families this Christmas. The planned extravaganza Beauty and the Beast has been postponed until 2021, and all ticket holders have had their bookings transferred to next year. In its place for two weeks in December comes a laugh out loud family pantomime Robin Hood and His Socially Distanced Merry Men.

The EM Forster auditorium is a flexible space which allows for safe audience social distancing in bubbles and family groups, and the exceptionally talented small cast are local (some live together) and will maintain social distance from each other throughout the rehearsal and performance process.

While the panto may be socially distanced, it is still an unmissable, family festive show packed full of all the slapstick, crazy jokes, and lashings of traditional panto magic that audiences have come to love and expect from Wicked Productions here in Tonbridge – and the Boombox will be back!

Deep in the heart of his foreboding Castle, the dastardly Sheriff of Nottingham is living the high life by taxing the poor, whilst imprisoning brave Maid Marian. But the Sheriff underestimated our hero Robin (the beau with all the arrows) emerging from Sherwood Forest to rescue his fair maiden Marian and recoup the gold to return to the poor. Can Robin save the day with a little help from his band of Merry Folk? Find out at Panto Tonbridge this December!

Hilarious duo Michael Fenton Stevens and Tom Swift return to play Dame Tuck and Silly Willy Scarlett alongside Tonbridge Favourites Ed Wright as the dastardly Sheriff of Nottingham and Amanda Swift, making a welcome return as Maid Marian.  David Young returns as Little John and making his Tonbridge debut From CBBC’s Andy and the Odd Socks Stewart McCheyne plays the lead role of Robin Hood.

Tom Swift, from Wicked Productions, said ‘We have managed to create a show which keeps audiences, and everyone on stage and backstage safe. In fact, it has allowed us to introduce hilarious elements into the production because of the need to maintain the romance despite the social restrictions!’

We are thrilled to still be able bring some well needed fun and Merry men-t to families this Christmas after this difficult and challenging year. The cast we have managed to get together are all so brilliantly talented and have been hugely supportive to make this happen. So, if you haven’t been one of the thousands who say Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a trip to Tonbridge for their annual panto fun, this is your chance!

Kat Portman Smith, Theatre Manager said, ‘We have a fantastic partnership with Wicked Productions and have delighted thousands of people over the last 4 years with our Christmas pantomime. This year more than ever we are looking forward to welcoming audiences safely back to the theatre for a very special show.’
